  • Greet customers, answer questions, and resolve complaints 
  • Use a cash register or point-of-sale system to ring up sales, collect payment, and issue receipts 
  • Process returns and exchanges quickly and efficiently
  • Keep the checkout area clean and tidy, and stock and refill shelves 
  • Track transactions, prepare reports, and balance the register at the end of the day
